Lord Amherst had recommended him to the King. He is to pay only the regulated price for the post. He writes that he is also trying to receive a grant of a pension of £300 per annum \u2018vacant by the Death of my good friend L[ad]y Northesk\u2019. He received an answer stating that Lord North had so many old applications from the Scotch establishment that it was impossible to grant it to Napier at the present time.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Dated at Edinburgh.<\/p>"
