   "value": "<p style='text-align: justify;'>Letter from Francis Napier, 8th Lord Napier, to Mary Hamilton. He writes from Shaftesbury, waiting to move to his new quarters. He spends his whole time at an inn and wishes that he could spend his time in reading, writing or in thinking, but \u2018the kindness\u2019 of his two companions means that he has little opportunity to do so. Napier describes the town and the people. He knows nothing as yet about the men in the town but the women \u2018regularly parade\u2019 outside the windows of the Inn.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Napier has heard nothing from General Conway since he last wrote to Hamilton and has resigned himself to his fate. If peace were to come, then there would be a reduction in the forces and he will be included in this reduction. He continues in the letter to joke as to what he intends to do if this were to happen.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Dated at Shaftesbury.<\/p>"
