Napier writes of the glorious news of Trafalgar and his worry over his son, William, who is a midshipman on the <i><i>Defence<\/i><\/i> and was part of the action. He knows nothing as yet as to his son's fate. \u2018Tomorrow may possibly bring the Detail of the Engagement, & the dreadful List of the Sufferers\u2019.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>The letter is also concerned with Napier's new house on Queen Street, a trip to the Highlands and his eldest daughter's health, Mary had caught scarlet fever. A number of the servants are also suffering from scarlet fever and he notes that his house is beginning to resemble a hospital.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Napier writes in detail on his finances and on family news.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Dated at Queen Street, [Edinburgh].<\/p>"
