   "value": "<p style='text-align: justify;'>Letter from Francis Napier, 8th Lord Napier, to Mary Hamilton, containing general news and gossip. Napier writes of his surprise at Hamilton's request to provide her with details of Lord Melville's pending trial. He asks, somewhat teasingly, if she really expected him to \u2018apply to a Judge to give his Opinion or any information relative to a trial pending before him\u2019. Napier also writes of his duties with the General Assembly and his son William. Hamilton had enquired to Napier on how Mr Fox [Charles James (1749-1806), politician] looked and he describes him as jaundiced. He notes that Fox's friends say that he is in perfect health but he believes that his legs \u2018show strong symptoms of Dropsy\u2019. Napier notes that he is not one of his friends.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Dated at Queen Street, [Edinburgh].<\/p>"
