   "value": "<p style='text-align: justify;'>\u2018Invalid\u2019 feeding cups date from the 1880s and were used to administer liquids to the sick or injured who were unable to feed themselves. The half-closed design of the cup helped to prevent spillage. Although first used in domestic setting or civil hospitals, they became well-known objects during the First World War when they were used in the care of injured soldiers, pilots and sailors; they were especially useful for injured troops being transported in hospital ships and hospital trains. This one has a Red Cross emblem on the top. Feeding cups were also sold to help raise money for the war effort.<\/p>"
