   "value": "<p style='text-align: justify;'>Orthopaedic surgeon, Sir John Charnley who trained at the Manchester Medical School and Manchester Royal Infirmary, developed this total hip prosthesis with high-density Polyethylene cup.<\/p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Charnley never had any formal training as an engineer but recognised the importance of working with medical scientists and engineers in his quest to improve quality of life for people suffering with severe hip pain. He established a centre for hip surgery at Wrightington Hospital, near Wigan in 1958, where he worked with engineers to perfect Total Hip Replacement. His work was the foundation for all present-day hip prosthesis. <\/p>"
