Hay] entitled 'The Return of the Killed and Wounded at Manchester - Letter from Mr Pearson', dated Manchester, Tuesday afternoon 31 Aug 1819. An account of the aftermath of Peterloo and how on Sunday the 29th August Charles Pearson and Sir Charles Wolseley, went around the Manchester area to collect evidence concerning those that had been wounded. Pearson is 'confident that the number of the casualties is not less than 500'. The 'enclosed' list of names was made up the previous night, and numbers of cases have been ever since admitted. On Friday, September3 1819, The Times (London, England) published his letter with the list of names which, accounts for circa 212 people injured (of whom two died in the infirmary). The author classified the list by sex and by method of injury. The letter 'b' is marked next to many of the names indicating that the person was 'severely or badly hurt'. <\/p>"
