   "value": "<p>The diameter of the roundel illustrations is 146 mm.<\/p><p>These woodcuts presumably fulfilled an apotropaic function, the decision to print them in roundels perhaps indicative of an amulet.<\/p><p>Schreiber recorded two other copies of the Lamb of God roundel, one offered by Ludwig Rosenthal as number 63 in his Catalogue 90, formerly in the Coppenrath Collection in Regensburg and one in the possession of Professor Hermann Joseph Otto Hubert August Constantin Hupp (1859-1949) of Schleisheim. The Hupp impression is now Munich, Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Inv.-Nr. 1962:766 D; the Coppenrath impression is now Munich, Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Inv.-Nr. 1962:767 D.<\/p><p>Schreiber suggested a date of 1470-1480, with the design probably originating in the Lake Constance area or Augsburg. Dodgson suggests c. 1480 and Augsburg, based on the dialect. Riether follows Schreiber with the Lake Constance area or Augsburg.<\/p>"
