<p style='text-align: justify;'>Copy of note from Horace Walpole to Mary Delany to accompany a new edition of his <i>Anecdotes of Painting in England</i>. Walpole writes that he has been called upon to publish a new edition and that he ‘cou[l]d not in a History of English Arts resist ye agreeable occasion of doing justice to one who has founded a new branch’, and so has recorded her name in vol.2.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Delany's reply is copied just below and is transcribed as HAM/1/6/3/4(3).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>The other side of the sheet contains HAM/1/6/3/4(1).</p>
