The note relates to Lady Finch's having been requested [by the Queen] to ‘settle this business by the first opportunity with Miss Hamilton’. Fielding writes that her mother has just sent Hamilton a note ‘to appoint tomorrow Morning’ to wait on her. [The ‘business’ in question is Hamilton’s initial appointment at Court.]</p>
