The Mary Hamilton Papers

Letter from Lady Dartrey to Mary Hamilton. She writes that she has 'a distress' that she begs Hamilton to help her out of, relating to protocol at the Queen's House. The first two times she visited there, the page opened the door and announced her, but the last time she waited ‘in a Fright’, not knowing whether to open the door herself. She asks what she is to do if there is no lady-in-waiting or page.
