The Mary Hamilton Papers

Letter from Lady Catherine Herries in Paris to Mary Hamilton. She notes that her house is 'sweetly situated [...] just facing the Pont Royal'. Her only criticism is that it is noisy 'but there is no finding perfection'. The letter continues on her journey to Paris from Dieppe and in describing the scenery. The Herrieses stayed for two days on Rouen. Herries has not had much time as yet to see much of Paris as her time has been spent 'in seeing people'. She continues on Versailles and on the funeral of the Duke of Richelieu [Armand de Vignerot du Plessis (1696-1788) diplomat]. The letter continues with general news of her family.

Dated at Paris.
