The Mary Hamilton Papers

Letter from Lady Mary Anne Napier to Mary Hamilton. She advises Hamilton that her guardian [William Napier] is still very ill, so much so that she herself is almost worn out with 'distress of mind & body'. She notes that he is suffering with a number of symptoms and is being treated by two of the best physicians who believe he is getting better. Napier cannot write often but advises Hamilton not to fear as she 'believes no news to be good news'.
