<p style='text-align: justify;'>Letter from Francis Napier, 8th Lord Napier, to Mary Hamilton, concerning his expectation of receiving official notification of his new position (see HAM/1/20/171). He writes that he intends to kiss the King's hand when he receives it. He also writes of his daughter attending the Lord Mayor's Ball and she suffered a coach accident on her way. She was unhurt but a panel of the carriage was 'shattered'.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>He continues the letter on 21 April, noting that he has 'this moment returned from kissing the Royal Paw'.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Dated at Suffolk Street.</p>
