<p style='text-align: justify;'>Heinrich Simon informs Eduard Kaiser about his progress at school, which includes his move up to Tertia and starting French. Emilie Simon has been ill since 6 November 1817. Heinrich describes his birthday presents and his father’s new routine, which involves a lot of walking around in the mornings. There are further signs of economising, as Herrmann Simon’s former servant Constantin has gone to the elder Lewald brother and Herrmann has given up his office.</p>
