Herrmann Simon expresses his delight at his sons’s profession of his good intentions and hopes that he will remain true to them. He reminds Heinrich that there are two things in life that cannot be taken away from a person: one is the knowledge they have acquired; and the other is righteousness. He advises his son to work hard at school from the outset. He will gain a reputation for diligence, which will set him on the right path in life.

Note(s):

Based on the topics raised, it is likely that this letter was sent together with letters SIM/1/39 and SIM/1/40.
