<p style='text-align: justify;'>Herrmann Simon writes a serious letter to his son Heinrich on his sixteenth birthday, reminding him of the flaws in his behaviour, in particular his wilfulness and irascibility. He refers to a recent falling out between Heinrich and his aunt Louise Bock and asks him to write her a letter of apology. He expresses his high expectations of his son and states his duty to become the future breadwinner of the family.</p>
