<p style='text-align: justify;'>Heinrich Simon’s letter to his parents is the first long letter home from his school days in Brieg that has been preserved. He mentions several family members, as well as describing leisure activities ranging from school revision in ancient Greek and what he has been reading to going the theatre and playing chess with the head Schmieder. Heinrich’s request to replace some of his underwear, which is falling apart, points to the continuing need for economies in the Simon household.</p>
