The Digital Edition of the Heinrich Simon Papers

Heinrich Simon describes his Christmas and New Year in Berlin. He spent time with Uncle Heinrich and his family, as well as enjoying theatre and restaurant visits with his Uncle Jacob Lewald and a vibrant social life including dancing lessons and balls. He talks about his studies and is quite dismissive about his professors whom – with the exception of Savigny – he describes as ‘no luminaries’. He also mentions an altercation with another student, which is resolved before it could escalate into a duel.
