<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 7 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a stylised sun-headed figure with a medical scalpel and apron, accompanied by a smiling red and yellow lion and a looping red and yellow snake. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to Manchester Royal Infirmary.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include ‘Manchester in the future’, cartoons and a number of surrealist stories. There are references to patriotism, faltering naval supremacy and challenges to Britain’s empire, particularly unrest in India (‘the solution of the Indian Question’).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include Exide batteries, McVitie and Price biscuits, the Co-operative Wholesale Society, A. Marks and Sons, The Co-operative Permanent Building Society, Rennett’s Business College, Ewbank wringing machines, Manchester Corporation Transport, Pratts petrol and others.</p>
