<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 13 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a green satyr playing a gold trumpet, running with an orange snake against a background of a yellow sun. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester. In this edition, £100 were donated to the Manchester University Settlement (Ancoats).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include a joke essay on boy scouts, ‘Technique’ comedy advice for a cinema date and a ‘women’s page’. There are references to Empire Goods, Socialism and Italy’s invasion of Abyssinia [Ethiopia]. Cartoons show sexualised female imagery and demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include S. Dodd and Sons textile machines, Beverlys Limited wine stores, A. Green and Sons cars, Agars wines and spirits, Manchester Corporation Transport, George Shephard cars, Reliance Laundry, Scott Brettle motorcycles, Finley and Barber outfitters, James Briggs and Sons oil, the Grand Hotel, Holt’s Ltd building supplies, Bilgewater’s Cream, Cadburys Whole Nut chocolate, J Cunliffe housing, Albion Greyhound Race Track and others.</p>
