<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 14 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a stylised scene of a blue and red stick figure on a raft, a green snake and a yellow sun. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include spoof letters from readers, a joke article on the royal wedding and a parody scientific report on the poisonous nature of milk. There are references to Mussolini’s conquest of Abyssinia [Ethiopia] and the coronation of George VI and Elizabeth.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include the Co-operative Wholesale Society, Lancashire Motor Traders, Lancashire Coachways, Grenfell raincoats, Globe and Simpson battery and fuel feeds, W. R. Parkinson builders, Strang’s bookmakers, the Manchester Ship Canal, Grange Laundry, James Henry Brown and Sons butchers, Albion Greyhound Race Track, the Wholesale Fish Market, S. E. Rawson clothiers and others.</p>
