<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 21 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a green snake winding through three bold diagonal ‘RAG RAG 1947’ text panels, set against a green and white striped background with a yellow sun. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>There are references to nationalisation, the post-war Labour government and socialism. Features include ‘Our great plan to prevent the Irwell Floods’, providing joke suggestions for flood control in Manchester, and ‘Let the Stars Guide You’, a parody of astrology columns.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include W. H. Smith and Co., Cooley’s knitting tools, the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Empire Pools Blackpool, Armstrongs Opticians, E. Boydell and Co construction vehicles, Matthews and Yates engineers, Price Brothers Bakers, the North Manchester Maternity Home and others.</p>
