<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 22 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a green and yellow snake with a medical donation box in front of a brick wall and sign, both inscribed ‘RAG’. This edition was called ‘The Futility Edition’. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to charitable causes in Manchester.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include a Rag parade route map with points of interest (pubs), a crossword puzzle and various poems and cartoons. There are references to rationing, prefabricated housing, Trade Unions and socialism. Cartoons show demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include the Co-operative Wholesale Society, the North Ancoats, Manchester and Salford and St Mary’s hospitals, Hyde’s brewery, Foster’s shaving cream, Sivewright Airways, Woodmet Ware, the Christie and Salford Royal hospitals, the North Manchester Maternity Home, Windak and others.</p>
