<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 24 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features three cartoonish students with long scarves carrying medical donation boxes across a bold red and white wavy striped background. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various Manchester charities in different proportions detailed on page 30. The main beneficiaries this year were St Mary’s, Children’s Branch (12.5 percent), the University Settlement (10 percent), the Family Service Unit (10 percent) and the Cancer Fund, Children’s Branch (12.5 percent).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include ‘LIFE! A Game of Chance’, an illustrated game progressing along a satirical student’s life course, and ‘“Rag-Rag’s Gallery of CAF Characters” showing stereotyped male and female characters. There are references to rationing, minimum wage campaigns and air travel. Cartoons show sexualised female imagery and demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include W. H. Preece office supplies, Ellis’s pies, Lookers cars, Jones and Jackson painter decorators, Clegg and Mellor roller coverers, Price Bros bakers, Grange laundry, Donald Brown brass founders, J. N. Nichols’ Vimto, Whitworth Park laundry, Simpsons Hotel, John Nesbitt tools and others.</p>
