<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 25 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a caricature of Roman Emperor Nero, holding a violin, reading the Rag Rag with a dark blue snake. Manchester landmarks such as the Central Library burn in the background. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester, detailed on page 30. The main beneficiaries this year were the University Settlement (10 percent), St Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children (10 percent) and the Family Service Units (10 percent), all for research into children’s diseases.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include ‘Mancunianship, or How to Be Happy in Manchester’ and ‘The Case of the Elastic Clock’. There are references to equal rights for women, communism and train travel commuting. Cartoons show demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include F and D Story turf, Wilson’s Olympic ale, Robert Carlyle builders, Dick Seymour bookmakers, Joseph Cookson textiles, Tops tyres, Regent petrol, Soreen milk whipping compound, Halls confectionary, Connolly’s cable manufacturers, Windak sportswear and others.</p>
