<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 27 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a red and white snake with a royal crown, sceptre and orb on a blue background. Proceeds for the magazine were donated to medical charities in Manchester, detailed on page ‘S’. The main beneficiaries this year were the University Settlement (10 percent), the Christie Hospital (10 percent) and St. Mary’s Hospitals (10 percent).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include ‘Albert Rides Again’, a parody of Lady Godiva Rides Again, and ‘How to become the perfect student (a study in evolution)’. There are references to the Queen’s coronation and post-war reconstruction. Cartoons show sexualised female imagery and demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include J. T. Richards, Robert Carlyle and Co., James Robertson and Sons, Lancashire United transport, Ainsbury foundries, Great Yarmouth resorts, Junior Service sweet cigarettes, Whitworth Park laundry, Regent T. T. Petrol, the Wood Street Mission, William Kaley heavy demolition, Montrose caravans and others.</p>
