<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 33 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover illustrated in a red and yellow Reader’s Digest style with satirical article titles, a cartoon pink snake and a monochrome photo of a chimp labelled ‘our cover artist’. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester, detailed on page 33. The main beneficiary this year was the Manchester University Settlement (12 percent).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include ‘Gramophone Notes’ and ‘Motoring’, spoof review articles. There are references to motorways, political instability in South America and Cold War armaments. Cartoons show demeaning racial stereotypes.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include JT Richards bookmakers, Refrigeration Services, Hatchett and Co construction engineers, Crown wallpapers, Carlsberg lager, the Refuge Lending Society, Drywood Chinchilla Farm, Manchester Liners, Burlington Warehouses, Marks and Spencer, Lloyd’s Warehouses, Smithfield Market, Manchester Abattoirs, Kellogg’s cereal, Flatley Central Heating and others.</p>
