<p style='text-align: justify;'>Volume 37 of the University of Manchester Rag Rag. Cover features a stick-figure jockey riding a horse collapsed onto a red and green snake, set against a yellow background with a stylised green hedge. Proceeds from the magazine were donated to various medical charities in Manchester, detailed on page 46. The main beneficiaries this year were Pendlebury Children’s Hospital (9 percent), the University Settlement (8 percent) and Booth Hall and Monsall Hospital Management Committee (8 percent). The price was 2 shillings, and the total donation target was £20,000.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Features include a double spread cartoon illustrating Rag week activities and comedy ‘Minutes of the Rag Committee Meeting’. There are references to new home technologies, postwar damage and intercontinental missiles.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>This volume’s comedic advertisements include Fielden Temperature Instruments, SL Robinson plant hire, Connell and Finnigan demolition, Quiligotti tiles, Mills of Bredbury, the Salford Hospital Management Committee, University Challenge, Abrams cars, Fram reinforced concrete, Internal Television Communications, Lewis’s department stores, the Manchester Wholesale Fish Association, Senior Service Tobacco and others.</p>
