The Digital Edition of the Heinrich Simon Papers

Herrmann Simon provides advice to Eduard Kaiser, who had experienced a serious loss, which he is struggling to come to terms with. He reminds him that he had suffered even greater hardship in the previous year. He tells Kaiser of his plan for Heinrich to board at the Gymnasium in Brieg, where the headmaster is Schmieder, an old friend. Herrmann’s hope is that under Schmieder’s supervision Heinrich will learn to apply himself so that he can make the most of his talents. Herrmann explains to Kaiser that his planned visit to Schmiedeberg on his return journey from a trip to Warmbrunn had to be cancelled due to bad weather.
