<p style='text-align: justify;'>Herrmann Simon writes to his brother Heinrich still in high spirits after the battles of the Katzbach and Kulm, which have seen prisoners-of-war flooding into Breslau. Herrmann writes that nothing is known about the outcome of the Battle of Dresden, although there is a dreadful rumour circulating about the loss of Moreau. Breslau’s lines of communications are affected by the floods, which have also delayed correspondence from Heinrich Simon the Elder. Herrmann Simon provides financial advice to his brother and urges caution with regard to government bonds, which – presumably as a result of the recent war successes – had sharply risen in value. There have been letters from Ludwig following recent engagements and some rumours regarding the survival of Otto.</p>
