<p style='text-align: justify;'>This letter from Herrmann Simon to Ober Finanz Rath Christian Rother, which was never posted, illustrates how unhappy and unfulfilled Simon was in his work as a broker in Breslau. He is willing to accept a reduction in pay in return for employment with the Prussian administration in Berlin. The letter also alludes to the difficulties that the Simon Family was experiencing in Breslau and Berlin.
