<p style='text-align: justify;'>This letter from Herrmann Simon to Ober Finanz Rath Christian Rother, which was never posted, illustrates how unhappy and unfulfilled Simon was in his work as a broker in Breslau. He is willing to accept a reduction in pay in return for employment with the Prussian administration in Berlin. The letter also alludes to the difficulties that the Simon Family was experiencing in Breslau and Berlin. Herrmann provides an overview of his career and describes the events of 1816 which forced him to close his business.</p>
