The Museum of Medicine and Health

This 12-blade scarificator or scarifier made multiple incisions at once and was used in bloodletting. When the button is pressed, the blades are exposed and slice into the skin. It was made by J & W Wood of King Street, Manchester; originally cutlers, they specialised in surgical instruments between 1833-1933, and were known for the high quality of their products.
