The Museum of Medicine and Health

This hearing aid is fashioned to appear to look like a hair slide, concealing the hearing loss of the wearer. This model is called the Duchess and was made by Ardente Acoustic Laboratories Ltd, in 1961. It consists of a transistor and is made of plastic that imitates tortoise shell. There is a wheel on one side used to control the volume. A twisted cord comes from one end and connects the transistor to a receiver which would have an ear mould attached, for the comfort of the wearer.
