<p style='text-align: justify;'>Pottery bowl, fine drab ware, with red surface; interior decorated with a red band below mouth; two rings of purple and brown around body, the rest washed with a buff slip, decorated with a design of lotus buds in brown, with waved stems all meeting in centre of base; piece missing at mouth when received</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Recognisable by their distinctive bold designs, Meroitic pottery often incorporating Egyptian motifs. These vessels attest to the close contacts between Egypt and its southern neighbours during the Graeco-Roman Period.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>From grave 413R, i.e. material filling grave</p>
