<p style='text-align: justify;'>Buff-ware pottery vase, with ring base and upright neck; grey wash on upper part, with barbontine trellis and dot pattern applied in thick white slip; objects 8458 to 8464 were found together; datable to the first or second century CE.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Recognisable by their distinctive bold designs, Meroitic pottery often incorporating Egyptian motifs. These vessels attest to the close contacts between Egypt and its southern neighbours during the Graeco-Roman Period.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Meroitic cemetery, grave 2065, object 3, with nos.8458-64</p>
