<p style='text-align: justify;'>Thin buff-ware pottery vase, in the form of a cup; straight sides, rounded base with reddish-brown painted rosette on bottom; the body is decorated with red and brown checked pattern; discovered in fragments inside object 8458; datable to the first or second century CE.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Recognisable by their distinctive bold designs, Meroitic pottery often incorporating Egyptian motifs. These vessels attest to the close contacts between Egypt and its southern neighbours during the Graeco-Roman Period.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Meroitic cemetery, grave 2065 in no.8458 in fragments with nos.8458-64</p>
