<p style='text-align: justify;'>Thin buff-ware pottery vase, shaped like a cup with slightly sloping sides and flat base; the body is decorated with garlands and reddish-brown pomegranates and stripes above and below; the object is restored from fragments; found with objects 8458 to 8464.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Recognisable by their distinctive bold designs, Meroitic pottery often incorporating Egyptian motifs. These vessels attest to the close contacts between Egypt and its southern neighbours during the Graeco-Roman Period.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Meroitic cemetery, grave 2065, object 2</p>
