<p style='text-align: justify;'>The Egyptian god Bes was traditionally depicted as an aggressive being, effective at warding off evil spirits – especially from new mothers and young children. As is usual for Pharaonic depictions of Bes he is shown naked. He holds Macedonian-style sword and rounded shield, so probably dates to the Ptolemaic Period, a dynasty of kings that followed Alexander the Great whose origins were in Macedon, Greece.</p>
