<p style='text-align: justify;'>Pottery vessel with upright neck, with three zones of decoration in its upper half: the lower shows three circular bands with vine leaves, the middle zone is decorated with dots on a thick red circular band and the higher one includes dots and diamond shaped patterns within a brown/purple circular band. Datable to the first or second century CE.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Recognisable by their distinctive bold designs, Meroitic pottery often incorporating Egyptian motifs. These vessels attest to the close contacts between Egypt and its southern neighbours during the Graeco-Roman Period.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Meroitic cemetery 1/690, with nos. 8451-2, 8495</p>
