Mummified body of a child. The outer wrappings form a rhomboid pattern with gilded studs, in imitation of the shrouded form of Osiris, the god of rebirth – assuring the divine status of the deceased. The small area of the long divine-style headdress exposed by the bandages is filled with protective scenes of the Egyptian gods. The damaged area of the mask shows the cartonnage construction technique, built up in layers of linen and plaster, and likely dates to the First Century CE.

The body was last CT-scanned at Manchester Children's Hospital on 23/7/13.
