Printed address to the Prince Regent from the towns of Manchester and Salford assuring them of their steadfast loyalty. Dated 11 October 1819. This address, accompanied by a long list of signatories, was written in the aftermath of the Peterloo Massacre of 16 August 1819. It was compiled in response to a meeting, to be held on 14 October 1819, organised by the Freeholders of the County of York to protest at the actions of the Magistrates. In contrast this printed address demonstrated that the Loyalist ‘respectable portion’ of Manchester and Salford inhabitants fully supported the actions of the magistrates and civil powers.
