<p style='text-align: justify;'> Copy [in the hand of W. R. Hay] of a requisition addressed to the Sheriff of Yorkshire. Signed by the 'most respectable names and several others' requesting a meeting of the Nobility, Gentry, Clergy, and freeholders of the County of York, for the purpose of demanding an inquiry into those transactions (relating to the events occurred in Manchester) and also for the purpose of preventing any invasion of the acknowledged Rights of the People. The requisition was contained in an article which had appeared in the York Courant newspaper, dated October 4, 1819.</p>
