Hebrew Bible (Latter Prophets) (Gaster Hebrew MS 673)
Hebrew Bible containing the Latter Prophets, from Jeremiah to Malachi with sublinear vocalisation; each verse is followed by the Aramaic Targum with supralinear vocalisation and the Judaeo-Arabic Tafsir with no vocalisation. The Hafṭarot (Prophetic readings) are indicated in the outer margins. At the top and bottom of the pages, there are liturgical comments in Judeo-Arabic.

- Collation:
29 quires: i2 (flyleaf i-ii), ii8+1 (folios 1-8), iii-xxviii10 (folios 9-268), xxix8 (folios 269-276).
Signatures in Hebrew characters on the first and last folios of the quires, no catchwords.
- Condition:
Water and fire damage on the edges. The first folios have been repared. Several quires are coming loose. Sewing fragile, front board detached from text block, spine exposed. Folio 76 torn.
- Layout:
Two columns with 26 written lines. Some traces of hard-point ruling on the margins.
- Script:Yemenite square script for main text.Yemenite semi-cursive script for marginal notes.
- Decoration:Masorah Magna is at times displayed in decorative geometric motifs.
Indication of new Hafṭarah decorated with small semi-circle or flower with wavy line and circle on top (e.g. folios 1b, 190a, 204a, 208a, 211b, 218b, 235a, 247a, 253a, 258b, 268a); probably added by a later hand. - Additions:Flyleaf 1a: two columns: column 1: beginning of Jeremiah 1:1 and the Targum (Jonathan); column 2: beginning of Ezekiel 1:1 and the Targum (Jonathan) followed by a poem dedicated to Abraham ibn Ezra ("שירה לאברהם בן עזרא עלא קדיש").Folio 1Aa: Text entitles "תרגום עוד היום בנוב תוספתא".Three loose fragments: the bigger one appears to be a section of a column of text; one written on paper attached to leather strip and one written on a leather strip. These could be part of a binding, not from the same manuscript.

Brown leather binding with diamond-shaped blind-tooling decoration. Use of jute cloth in spine. Sewn on three raised cords. Remains of leather strips attached to boards for fastening. Modern brown leather box with gold letters on spine reading in English: "Gaster / 673".

Produced in the Jewish settlement of Darb Al-Hanashāt [דרב אלחנשאת], in the Mawzaah district of Yemen(?) in Marheshṿan 1912 of the Seleucid era [=27 October-24 November 1601].

Folio 1a: pen trials in Hebrew; two ownership notes by Sālam bin Saʿid al-Nadaf in Judeo-Arabic: "האדא אלכתאב חק סאלם ן' סעיד אלנדאף יצ"ו" and "האדת אלנביאים חק סאלם ן' סעיד אלנדאף יצ"ו".
Folio 1Aa: ownership note by Sālam ibn Saʿid al-Nadaf(?) with blessing and curse: "ישמח הקורא וימח הגונב ואם ימצא אותו לא יחזירו לי טרקיה חיויא דרבנן הוא וכל דיליה ושאר עם בשלום זעיר חיים סאלם אלנדאף יצ"ו סט " [Let the reader rejoice and the thief be eliminated, and if someone finds it, and does not return it to me, let he be bitten by the snake of the Rabbis..." (cf. Babylonian Talmud Tractate Shabbat 110a)].
Folio 1Aa: partially erased note (by owner) beginning with the blessing of the reader and buyer [of the manuscript]: "יגל הקורא וישמח הקונה...".
Folios 1a, 1Aa and 272b: signatures of Moses Gaster.
Folio 1Ab: ownership note by Ḥayim bin al-Nadaf, the son of Sālam al-Nadaf: "אתנקל פי דול חיים ן' סאלם ן' סעיד ן' אבראהם ן' יוסף אלנדאף יצ"ו" (Acquired by Sālam al-Nadaf [by exchange?]).
