<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Fragment of Gnostic literature describing a dispute between a female disciple called Mary and a group of male disciples over the teachings of the life of Christ, ending with the disciples resolution to go and preach 'The Gospel according to Mary'. Some scholars have tentatively identified the female disciple as Mary Magdalene.</p><p>Professor Carl Schmidt supplied C. H. Roberts with the translation of the Coptic text (in which the Greek words in the original are retained). Roberts stated that this not only made it possible to restore the correct reading at points where the Greek text was mutilated or corrupt and place it in its proper context, but also provided an interesting basis for a comparison between the two versions.</p></p>
