The Aḥvāl-i Jang-i Marhattah (Events of the Maratha War) composed by ʻAlī Ibrāhīm Khān (d. ca. 1793) in 1201 AH (1786–87 CE) for the Governor-General of Benares Lord Charles Cornwallis (1738–1805). It relates events during the First Maratha War in 1171 to 1199 AH (1757–1782 CE), and culminates in Visvāsa Rāō’s attack upon Delhi and its successful defence. An unidentified scribe completed this volume on 30 Oct. 1863 CE, probably in Delhi, for then-Commissioner Colonel George William Hamilton.
