Manuscript map of the Chūgoku and Shikoku regions, in colour, in Japanese. The title is reported on a mounted cover label. The map focuses on coastal areas and sea routes, with very few pictorial elements. Place names are reported for localities on the coast. A colour pattern reflects administrative divisions, and in particular provincial divisions are marked on the map, with provincial names in square blocks. It is not dated, but Kornicki (1993) estimates that in was produced in the first half of the 19th century. It seems to have been inspired by the extensive territorial survey of Japan conducted by the cartographer Inō Tadataka (1745-1818) at the beginning of the 19th century.
