<p style='text-align: justify;'> A circular, dated Whitehall, 5th. February, 1814, addressed to The Officer commanding the Oldham Local Militia. The Oldham Local Militia was formed in 1809, disbanded in 1816, and was commanded by Lt. Col. John Lees of Werneth Hall, Oldham. Signed Sidmouth on page <a dir='auto' href='' onclick='store.loadPage(2);return false;'>3</a>. The long title of the act referred to is "An act to enable His Majesty to accept the services of the local militia out of their counties under certain restrictions, and until the twenty fifth day of March One thousand eight hundred and fifteen" (54 Geo. 3, c. 19, sometimes referred to as Local Militia (Great Britain) Act 1813).</p>
