<p style='text-align: justify;'> A woman dressed in breeches, knee high laced boots and jumper stands holding an axe. She is next to a tree with with the initial axe marks on it's lower trunk. The Women's Forestry Service was started by Miss Rosamund Crowdy as a section of the Land Army. It was set up under the Timber Supply Department, part of the Board of trade in 1917. Training camps for cutting and measuring the timber were held at several locations, including Wendover. </p>
