The Simon Papers, University of Birmingham

The Simon Papers, University of Birmingham

In 1956 Ernest, 1st Lord Simon, and in 1961 his son Brian Simon passed family documents from 1807 to 1866 to Roy Pascal, Professor of German at Birmingham. These documents, principally letters, comprise The Simon Papers in the Cadbury Research Library, the University of Birmingham. They consist of 671 items in four envelopes.

The portrait opposite from around 1780 by Johann Christoph Frisch depicts the Simons' ancestor, the Breslau merchant and banker Hirsch Simon (1730-1792).
